Google has improved the video indexing report in Google Search Console for accurate error reporting. This update came into effect from January 20, 2023.

GOOGLE’S ANNOUNCEMENT:

Google said that Search Console will be able to classify thumbnail indexing issues more accurately now. As a result of this, there may be a reassignment of ‘Missing thumbnail’ issues to more specific issue types. Google also added that the total number of affected videos should remain the same.

Search Console helps to measure the site’s search traffic and performance, fix issues, and make the site shine in Google search results.

 WHAT IS VIDEO INDEXING REPORT:

The video indexing report shows how many indexed pages on the site contain one or more videos, and on how many of those pages a video could be indexed. Indexed videos may appear in Google search results.

HOW IT WORKS:

Google told that if Google detects any video on you site, the video indexing report appears on left navigation bar in the coverage section. If Google does not detect a video on your site, you will not be able to see the report.

The report displays the position of the video indexing on your site. If you resolve an existing issue, you can use the report to authenticate the solution and track how your fixed video pages are updated in the Google index. It assists you to know the following:
